Scottish Borders Event Forum in conjunction with Scottish Borders Council has hosted workshops and training sessions to assist event organisers since November 2006.

These have proved popular and the topics covered have been varied with the valued opportunity of networking.

Previous successful courses include IT training focusing on:

A further IT session covered:

• mail merge

• labels
• data protection

Both exercises were designed to simplify event organisation by improving participants IT skills.

Initial workshops concentrated on the development of the Scottish Borders Event Forum and its engagement with event organisers in the region

Subsequent workshops have highlighted:

• Police Licensing
• Alcohol Awareness
• Child Protection
• Health & Safety issues

...and have included presentations from fellow event organisers.

The informal approach to the training sessions and workshops allows event organisers to gather information which is appropriate to their specific event so enhances the learning experience. There are normally additional advisers on-hand to give extra advice.
